The dirt stretched on for miles, further then the eye could see. And yet, I felt
peaceful as I drove about the Australian outback. Unsure of what I would
encounter, and when the next petrol station would bless my drive. Each time I drove
past one I would wonder if I should’ve filled up in case I got stuck along the
way.

My trip would take me through to Alice Springs with many stops along the way. One such stop
being the old timer mines in Coober Pedy. The air was damp as I stepped into the underground home on display for tourists there. You would never think such a masterpiece of architecture would be in the middle of the outback and yet here it was. The ceilings hung low as I ran my hand along the carved-out walls as I walked around. I was out here on this trip solo, looking for inspiration… and I found it in the most unexpected of places.

Coober Pedy was just the appetiser, once I reached Alice Springs, I saw what everyone else meant when they spoke so lovingly of Ayers Rock in Uluru, and the beauty that emanates from it. It was such a natural rock formation that stood out against the backdrop of the sunset that I watched from afar. I was truly inspired and grateful to be able to experience the sight.

On my way back from Alice Springs I thought about all the natural beauty I encountered along the way and the sight to behold that was Ayers Rock. I have never given much thought to the inspiration that one can encounter when doing a solo trip with just the music player in the car and thoughts to keep me company. But here I was, freshly inspired about the beauty that is out in the world and how I can contribute to it by becoming a structural engineer in Adelaide.

I have never looked back!

What can I say about the beauty that is ALL of New Zealand?

Everywhere I looked I was in awe of the sights that lay ahead of me. On Rangitoto island, the sunset was morebeautiful than from anywhere else I had experienced. I saw it glistening
against the clear blue water that lapped against the ferry as I made my way
across. The only sight more beautiful was the beaches on Waiheke Island.

Waiheke Island was a collection of beautiful vineyards, olive groves and sandy white beaches. Everywhere in New Zealand could be a bustling tourist destination as I can safely say there was not a single place that was not full of bustle and activity, and awe-inspiring beauty. Even Auckland was a sight to behold with the contemporary planning of the city and the buildings I came across. Everywhere I looked I could see the architecture’s vision behind their work and their exquisite work.

I knew right then and there, I wanted to be such a person that inspired the same feeling in someone else.

Every place I’ve travelled to, every culture I’ve seen … they have all contributed to my daily inspiration and me reaching my goal of becoming a great structural and civil engineer in
Adelaide. And I will continue to be inspired by the beauty that I have already experienced, as well as the experiences I am yet to have.

Every place has kept a memento in my heart, and an imprint upon my work. And none compared to the rich, awe inspiring beauty that is all of New Zealand.

I am glad I made that trip, and will continue to be inspired by it all.

The smell of spices in the south-east lingers not only on your fingers but within the air itself.

Only in south east Asia have I found that you could go to the shabbiest looking food truck, or market, and leave having tasted such exquisite cuisine you would be forgiven for thinking you were sitting at a Michelin restaurant.

Although I don’t any Michelin star restaurant would look like the backstreets in the middle of Malaysia.

My travels have taken me far and wide across the earth, but none have such a variety in food and spices that south east Asia does. Nor have I seen such beautiful architecture regarding the many temples and beautiful historical buildings that I have come across. Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia have always left me in awe of the beauty that I am able to witness each time I visit.

Every country I have been to is different in one way or another. But the one thing that joins us is architecture and engineering. There are beautiful buildings all over the world that continue to surprise and inspire me daily. And the meaning behind each one might be different, as well as the design, but the engineering and structure behind it is always the same.

It is a universal language that I am proud to be apart of. And are constantly in awe of the new and inspired designs that I come across. Such experiences keep me inspired to becoming a great Structural Engineer Adelaide and Project Management Consultant Adelaide.

Dubai has quickly become an example of opulence, wealth and extravagance. With its luxury shopping, modern architecture and the hip night club scene.

I was here to stay for a few days and witness the architecture that is used as an example for its progressive design and inspiration – the Burj Khalifa. The Burj Khalifa skyscraper is known as the tallest building in the world with me seeing no end to it as I gazed up in wonder.

It was everything I thought it would be and more. The observation deck showcased the entire view below with the beautiful Dubai fountain in full view.

It was a sight to behold. The choreography and the lights danced in a way that anyone watching would feel as though they had stepped into a world of fascination and awe. I know I did.

Australia is a bustle of activity in some ways, and complete bliss in other ways. We like our personal space here and it shows with our large cities for our small population.

I have continued to travel sporadically throughout our lovely country and observe the many beautiful wonders of architecture and engineering that are present everywhere.

With beautiful buildings on every corner that showcase the century before when such intricate details were the standard. This city has always renewed my love in engineering and continued my love and desire to be a Structural Engineer Adelaide.

Melbourne is such a city with amazing sites to behold. My travel there after my arrival to Australia led me to live among the locals and see the city inside and out with all its beauty and grace. It is well known for its sites and culture, as well as fashion. Its architecture should also be added to that list.

Sydney and Canberra hold the same love in my heart too. It is such a vast city with many sites to see. You could easily drive for two hours and still barely move or make any headway to the CBD. And that is ok!

The hustle and bustle of every suburb just brings the communities together to the local shopping centre. With many structurally beautiful buildings to be seen everywhere.

These many structures and beauty continue to amaze me and give me a continued love for my profession. The contrast of the buildings in the city to the simple structures in the country showcase the beautiful range in this country.

Australia’s countryside is very simple and open, very welcoming to anyone who is not a local. But even among the simplest towns I always tend to come across an engineering marvel and be inspired to continue working and building towards my future.

This continued travel across Australia always helps to remind me to continue to work towards being a structural and consulting engineer in Adelaide, and the impact I can make upon the world.

Never stop travelling, you never know just how inspired you may become!!

Egypt was nothing like I thought it would be.

The five days I was there in 2007 were a whirlwind of bustle and activity with the serenity of the pyramids of Giza sitting not far from the eyeline of the city nearby.

The first couple of days were spent at an engineering conference nestled in the middle of Cairo, with no indication I had even left the comfort of my home town other then the variance in food.

However, that soon finished and left me a few days to explore the beautiful country known for its structure and architecture and rich history.

The camel I was on; trotted along slowly kicking up sand into the air, as I attempted to be the typical tourist and pose whenever the sand dunes would align. Every photo ended up looking the same.

Soon I saw towering before me the beauty that is the pyramids of Giza, and I come to understood that every book, every article, every picture in the world could not to justice to its beauty and design.

I stared at the beautiful sight before me and pondered the many mysteries of architecture and structural engineering that took place to create the beauty in front of me. That is when I knew, I wanted to be one of the best Consulting Engineers Adelaide and Structural Engineer Adelaide.

Once stepping inside the intricate designs along the way and the perfect structure kept me awestruck as I wondered about with the tour guide and counted myself along the lucky individuals in the world who got to see such a sight.

My journey did not end at the pyramids. I travelled along to the sphinx and the infamous suez canal. A piece of engineering that incorporated everything about the beauty and architecture that the world says about Egypt. And it was all true. Everywhere I turned in Egypt I felt a new inspiration for the path I had chosen in life.

Egypt is a place that leaves you awestruck and overwhelmed
with its beauty. I still carry its inspiration with me today.
